Silent Hill f Delayed Until March 2025

by Victoria Sep 23,2025

Konami's latest Silent Hill Transmission has arrived, focusing exclusively on Silent Hill f, the upcoming installment in the beloved horror franchise set in 1960s Japan.

Originally announced in 2022, Silent Hill f was described as a game set in a "beautiful, therefore terrifying" world. The project features writing by Ryukish07, the acclaimed Japanese visual novelist behind the Higurashi and Umineko series.

After nearly three years of anticipation, new details about Silent Hill f have finally surfaced.

Silent Hill f Explores 'Beauty in Terror' With Haunting Choices in 1960s Japan

Konami unveiled a new trailer for Silent Hill f, revealing the game's central theme of discovering beauty within terror. Players will face a profound, aesthetically charged decision set against the backdrop of 1960s Japan.

The developers remained tight-lipped about the nature of this pivotal choice but offered intriguing story details:

"Shimizu Hinkao lived as an ordinary teenager until her town became enveloped in mysterious fog, transforming into a nightmarish landscape. Now she must navigate this unrecognizable environment, solving puzzles, battling bizarre creatures, and struggling to survive - all while preparing for an ultimate, harrowing decision. This is a tale of beauty intertwined with terror."

While serving as an accessible entry point for newcomers, the game will include subtle nods for longtime fans. The story unfolds in the fictional Japanese town of Ebisugaoka, inspired by the real-life location of Kanayama in Gifu Prefecture.

Character and creature designer Kera shared insights about the game's terrifying visions:

"As a longtime Silent Hill fan, I drew particular inspiration from Silent Hill 2 - its environmental storytelling, soundtrack, and monster designs. Adapting these elements to a Japanese setting required careful consideration to maintain the series' essence while creating something fresh."

The audio experience will play a crucial role, with veteran composer Akira Yamaoka collaborating with Kensuke Inage (Dynasty Warriors series) to craft distinct soundscapes for both the Fog World and Otherworld.

Inage explained his approach: "I've composed music that reflects a disturbing yet elegant world, incorporating shrine imagery and blending traditional Japanese court music with ambient textures. The score aims to immerse players in the protagonist's psychological turmoil."

While no specific release date was announced, Silent Hill f is confirmed for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC platforms.
