Hollow Knight: Silksong Playable Version

Available at Game Worlds in Australia

Silksong

Hollow Knight: Silksong is one of the most eagerly awaited games in recent years, and fans are thrilled at the prospect of finally getting their hands on it. The long wait might soon be over, as Silksong will be available to play at Australia's National Museum of Screen Culture (ACMI). This new playable version of Silksong promises to be a significant evolution from the demo showcased at E3 in 2019, which was more of a "proof of concept" than a fully realized game.

ACMI is set to launch a video games exhibition titled Game Worlds, running from September 18, 2025, to February 8, 2026. The exhibit will feature several notable titles, including World of Warcraft, The Sims, and the highly anticipated Hollow Knight: Silksong from Australia. These games will be presented with exclusive custom builds, alongside original design materials, concept art, and iconic objects, offering visitors a deep dive into the creative processes behind these beloved games.

In an interview with IGN, ACMI co-curators Bethan Johnson and Jini Maxwell expressed their excitement about including Silksong in their upcoming exhibit. They stated, "Since Hollow Knight: Silksong's initial announcement in 2019, it has been one of the most anticipated indie games on the planet – and we are thrilled to celebrate the design of this South Australian-made game as a centrepiece of Game Worlds in September."

Since its announcement in 2019, information about Silksong has been scarce, leaving fans hungry for any updates or rumors about its release date and other details. ACMI's Game Worlds exhibit aims to quench this thirst by providing more in-depth information about Silksong.

The co-curators further explained the exhibit's focus on Silksong, saying, "From the hundreds of sprites that animate Hornet’s different movements and attacks, to the logic behind the game’s most challenging boss fights – and of course, having the game playable in-gallery – our Silksong displays delve deeply into the details of the game's artistic direction and design."

While the Australian event hints at a potential launch window for Silksong, no official announcements have confirmed the game's exact release date. Silksong did make a brief appearance during the Switch 2 Direct, confirming a release window of 2025. Given that the exhibit runs until 2026, fans are hopeful that Silksong will be released sometime in September or during the exhibit's duration.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is slated for release on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. To stay updated with the latest information about the game, be sure to check out our article below!
