After a successful closed alpha phase, Smite 2's open beta is now accessible for free on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Steam Deck. Titan Forge Games, the developers behind this eagerly anticipated sequel, have simultaneously rolled out a comprehensive Smite 2 patch. This update introduces new gods, exciting game modes, and a wealth of additional content to enhance the gaming experience.

Announced a year ago, Smite 2 promises to elevate the beloved third-person MOBA experience, leveraging the power of Unreal Engine 5 for enhanced visuals and refined combat mechanics. The sequel features a revamped item shop, allowing players greater flexibility in selecting items, regardless of their chosen god's classification. Like its predecessor, Smite 2 allows players to embody gods from various cultures, engaging in intense 5v5 battles to siege the enemy team. Now, following the closed alpha phase, the game is open to all.

As of January 14, Smite 2's open beta is available for free across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC (via Epic Games Store and Steam), and Steam Deck. The latest update introduces a host of new content, including Aladdin, a god uniquely crafted for Smite 2. Aladdin brings a dynamic playstyle to the game, capable of running along walls and even reviving after death with the help of his companion's three wishes. His ultimate ability captures enemies in his lamp, forcing them into a thrilling 1v1 duel.

Smite 2's Free-to-Play Open Beta Introduces New Content

  • 5 new gods
  • Aladdin, the latest god developed specifically for Smite 2
  • The fan-favorite 3v3 game mode "Joust"
  • A brand new Arthurian-themed map
  • Updates to the Conquest map
  • An alpha version of the Assault game mode
  • New optional enhancements to some gods in the form of Aspects
  • Available to download for free on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam and Epic Games Store, and Steam Deck.

Alongside Aladdin, the Smite 2 roster expands with Geb, the Egyptian God of Earth; Mulan, the Chinese Ascendant Warrior; Agni from the Hindu Pantheon; and Ullr from the Norse Pantheon. In addition to new gods, the open beta reintroduces the beloved Joust mode, featuring a smaller 3v3 map. Players can also explore updates to the Conquest map and an alpha version of the Assault game mode.

Titan Forge Games' creative director has stated that Smite 2 surpasses its predecessor in numerous aspects. The developer expressed gratitude for the community's feedback during the closed alpha, which has been instrumental in refining the game. They also teased "ambitious content" slated for release in 2025.

While Smite 2 is available on most major platforms, Nintendo Switch users will miss out on the action. The developer cited concerns about the console's performance capabilities. However, they remain open to the possibility of bringing the game to the Switch 2. In the meantime, Smite enthusiasts can dive into the open beta and experience the next evolution of this iconic MOBA.
