Next month, PlayStation Plus subscribers will see a significant reduction in their game library as 22 titles are set to be removed on May 20, 2025. Notable among these are Grand Theft Auto 5, Payday 2: Crimewave Edition, and the last playable versions of first-party titles Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2.
PlayStation Plus is a comprehensive online gaming service for PlayStation platforms, offering benefits such as free monthly games, limited-time trials, online multiplayer access, and exclusive member discounts. Additionally, Extra and Premium members enjoy access to a catalog of hundreds of current and classic games.
According to Push Square, the upcoming removal of 22 games from the PS Plus catalog includes two high-profile first-party Sony PS3 games, which are set to depart from the PS Plus Premium library.

The removal of Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 is particularly significant because these titles are no longer available for purchase on the PlayStation Store. This makes the PS Plus Premium streaming service the last remaining platform to play them, unless you own the games and a functional PS3. Both titles were added to the library towards the end of 2024, marking their removal less than a year later.
The Resistance series, developed by Insomniac, is a set of alternate history first-person shooters that followed their work on the Ratchet and Clank games. The series saw three releases on the PS3 before Insomniac shifted focus to projects such as Marvel’s Spider-Man and new Ratchet and Clank titles.
Although it is rare for Sony to remove first-party games from its service, it has occurred previously, as seen with the unexpected removal of both Horizon games — Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon: Forbidden West — in August 2024. Unlike those titles, which were still available for purchase upon removal, Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 will become inaccessible on modern consoles.
Notably, Resistance 3 and Resistance: Retribution will continue to be available on the service. Additionally, the more recent first-party PS4 title InFamous: Second Son is also slated to leave PS Plus.
Insomniac's Resistance series has been inactive for some time. In February, Insomniac founder and outgoing president Ted Price disclosed efforts to develop Resistance 4, which unfortunately did not come to fruition. Like Guerrilla's Killzone series, Resistance has been largely sidelined.
