South Park Off Air Again Tomorrow, as Report Explains Why Weekly Release Schedule is Currently Off the Table

by Nicholas May 28,2026

South Park will once again skip airing a new episode this week, as reports indicate the show’s recent bi-weekly release schedule will continue for the remainder of the season.

The latest batch of South Park episodes, currently airing on Comedy Central and Paramount+, has earned some of the series’ highest ratings ever, along with worldwide attention, thanks to its unfiltered portrayal of President Donald Trump.

However, production on the show has noticeably slowed, with only three episodes released in the six weeks since Season 27 premiered, and the fourth episode now set to debut next week on September 3.

According to Deadline, South Park will maintain its every-other-week release pattern for the rest of the season, with its 10 episodes scheduled to conclude after 20 weeks—around December 10.

What’s behind the shift? As you might guess, the extended production timeline gives creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker more time to refine each episode.

“No one’s going to sacrifice getting it right, even if we have to push back the air date—and if that means the season gets longer, so be it,” an anonymous production source told the outlet.

The report adds that this schedule also benefits Paramount, as the network benefits from South Park dominating conversations for twice as long as it would have with weekly releases.

Season 27 opened with a standout episode that featured Trump prominently—literally, as viewers saw far more of the president than anyone anticipated. The White House quickly responded, claiming “just like the creators of South Park, the Left has no authentic or original content, which is why their popularity continues to hit record lows.”

“This show hasn’t been relevant for over 20 years and is hanging on by a thread with uninspired ideas in a desperate attempt for attention,” said Trump White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers to Rolling Stone. “President Trump has delivered on more promises in just six months than any other president in our country’s history—and no fourth-rate show can derail President Trump’s hot streak.”

The season’s second episode, Got a Nut, introduced Vice President JD Vance and included a violent, gun-wielding portrayal of Secretary of Homeland Security Kristi Noem. Last week’s third episode, Sickofancy, again centered on Trump, who took ownership of Towelie, the genetically-engineered talking towel, for reasons we won’t dwell on here.

What’s next for South Park? We’ll just have to wait another week to find out.
