Romancing SaGa Re:universe Global Server Closure Announced
The global version of Romancing SaGa Re:universe will officially shut down on December 2nd, 2024. While the Japanese version continues operation, this marks the end of the line for global players. This news may or may not come as a surprise, depending on your perspective.
Only Two Months Remain
With the December shutdown looming, in-game purchases using paid jewels and Google Play Points exchanges have already ceased following the September 29th, 2024 maintenance.
Launched in June 2020, the global version enjoyed a four-year run marked by both successes and challenges. Despite its impressive visuals, soundtrack, and generous gacha system, the game received mixed player feedback.
Unlike its highly popular Japanese counterpart, the global version failed to resonate with a wider audience. The absence of significant content updates, such as the Solistia expansion and 6-star unit upgrades (available in Japan for nearly a year), contributed to player dissatisfaction and ultimately, the game's closure.
Player Reactions
Square Enix has already closed several mobile titles this year, including Final Fantasy: Brave Exvius and two Dragon Quest mobile games, adding Romancing SaGa Re:universe (global) to the list.
This traditional turn-based RPG, based on the classic SaGa series, offers players two remaining months of gameplay. If you're curious, now's your chance to experience it before the servers go offline. Download it from the Google Play Store.
