Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles Reveals Another New Character

Aspyr's upcoming release of Star Wars Episode 1: Jedi Power Battles for modern consoles introduces a surprising playable character: Jar Jar Binks. This revelation, accompanied by a new gameplay trailer, showcases Binks wielding a large staff and delivering his characteristically chaotic dialogue.

The 2000 original featured iconic characters and locations from Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace. This updated version aims to capitalize on nostalgia while adding fresh content. Beyond lightsaber color customization and cheat code support, a significant expansion of the playable roster is underway. Jar Jar Binks is the latest in a series of character reveals.

The trailer highlights Binks' gameplay, dispelling any hopes (however unrealistic) of a Darth Jar Jar-esque red lightsaber wielding character. Instead, he utilizes a staff in combat. Jar Jar Binks will be playable upon the game's January 23rd launch, and pre-orders are currently available.

Newly Revealed Playable Characters:

  • Jar Jar Binks
  • Rodian
  • Flame Droid
  • Gungan Guard
  • Destroyer Droid
  • Ishi Tib
  • Rifle Droid
  • Staff Tusken Raider
  • Weequay
  • Mercenary

Aspyr has unveiled ten new playable characters, with more to come. This diverse selection includes familiar faces like the Staff Tusken Raider and Rodian, alongside various droid types. The inclusion of both Jar Jar Binks and the Gungan Guard demonstrates a commitment to expanding the Gungan representation within the game.

With the release date fast approaching, fans eagerly anticipate experiencing these additions. Aspyr's past experience remastering classic Star Wars titles, such as Star Wars: Bounty Hunter, offers hope for a successful and faithful update to Jedi Power Battles.
