"Take-Two CEO Optimistic About Nintendo Switch 2"

by Connor May 25,2025

As we approach the much-anticipated launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, just weeks away, the gaming industry is abuzz with discussions on pricing, tariffs, and game key cards. Amid this, one third-party publisher stands out with a positive outlook: Take-Two Interactive. In a recent Q&A session with investors following their full year earnings report, CEO Strauss Zelnick expressed "great optimism" for Nintendo's upcoming console. He highlighted the enhanced support from Nintendo for third-party publishers, marking a significant improvement over past experiences.

Zelnick shared exciting news about Take-Two's commitment to the Nintendo Switch 2, announcing the launch of four titles. This includes Civilization 7 on the console's launch day, June 5, alongside entries from the popular NBA 2K and WWE 2K series, though specific titles and release dates remain undisclosed. Additionally, Borderlands 4 is set to hit the shelves on September 12. This array of releases represents a broader launch strategy for Take-Two on a Nintendo platform than ever before. Historically, third-party involvement in Nintendo's ecosystem has been challenging, but Zelnick noted that Nintendo has been proactive in addressing these issues, fostering a more collaborative environment.

While not every title from Take-Two's extensive catalog will make it to the Nintendo Switch 2, Zelnick's comments suggest potential future releases, particularly from their back catalog. Although Grand Theft Auto 6 is unlikely to be among them, there's hope that classics like GTA V might eventually find their way to the platform.

In a pre-investor call discussion, Zelnick also touched on the development timeline for GTA 6, acknowledging its recent delay to next year. This reflects Take-Two's strategic approach to game development and release, ensuring they meet consumer expectations and capitalize on market opportunities.

Take-Two's enthusiasm for the Nintendo Switch 2 underscores a promising future for the console, driven by strong third-party support and a diverse game lineup that caters to a wide range of gaming preferences.
