Ubisoft Unveils New NFT Game: Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E.
Ubisoft's latest venture into the NFT gaming space, Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E., has quietly launched. This top-down multiplayer arcade shooter, as reported by Eurogamer, requires players to purchase a unique NFT to participate.
Expanding the world of the Netflix series, Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, the game incorporates elements from popular Ubisoft franchises like Watch Dogs and Assassin's Creed. Limited to 10,000 players, access is granted via a Citizen ID Card NFT, purchased for approximately $25.63. This card tracks player achievements and rankings, evolving dynamically based on in-game performance. Players can even resell their citizenship, potentially increasing the card's value.
The game's full launch is slated for Q1 2025, with early access for those who have already secured their Citizen ID Cards. The official Ubisoft page on Magic Eden provides further details.
A Netflix Series Inspired by Far Cry 3's Blood Dragon
Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, the Netflix series which inspires the game, serves as an animated spin-off of Far Cry 3's Blood Dragon DLC. Set in an alternate 1992 where the U.S. is a technocracy ruled by a megacorporation called Eden, the series follows Dolph Laserhawk, a supersoldier turned rebel.
While Ubisoft has yet to fully detail the game's storyline, it shares the same universe, placing players as citizens under Eden's control. Player actions, including mission completion and community engagement, directly impact the game's narrative and leaderboards.
