The much-anticipated sequel, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, has faced yet another delay, with its release now scheduled for October 2025. This latest postponement, announced subtly in a recent update video by publisher Paradox Interactive and developer The Chinese Room, pushes the game's launch a few months beyond the previously targeted first half of the year. Despite the delay, there's a silver lining: the game is reportedly complete, with the development team currently focusing on polishing aspects like bug fixing, stability, and performance to ensure a top-notch gaming experience upon release.
Executive Producer Marco Behrmann shared, "The status of the game right now is that the game is done. We are currently focusing on bug fixing, stability, and performance so that we can deliver the best experience to you guys once it releases." This update, while another setback in a series of delays, also brings some positive news. The Chinese Room has enhanced the game with additional content, deeper narrative, and improved character development. Notably, the character Fabien will play an "evolved role" in the storyline, adding a fresh twist to the narrative. However, fans should brace for less frequent updates as the development progresses, as indicated by a recent post on the game's official X/Twitter account.
The journey of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 has been fraught with challenges since its announcement in 2019. Initially developed by Hardsuit Labs with a planned Q1 2020 launch, the game faced numerous delays, pushing the release to late 2020, then to 2021, accompanied by layoffs at Hardsuit in March 2021. A significant shift occurred in 2023 when The Chinese Room took over from Hardsuit, aiming for a 2024 release. Now, after one more delay, fans are set to experience the game in October 2025.
While the release date remains uncertain, The Chinese Room expresses confidence in their final product. Looking ahead, Paradox Interactive has hinted that, should Bloodlines 2 succeed, the development of a potential Bloodlines 3 might be handed over to a new team.
