Snapchat's 2024 Year in Review: Accessing Your Snap Recap
Many apps now offer yearly recaps, and Snapchat is joining the trend with its new 2024 Snap Recap feature. This feature compiles your year's Snaps into a fun, albeit somewhat random, highlight reel.
What is a Snap Recap?
Unlike detailed statistical recaps from other platforms, the Snap Recap doesn't focus on numbers. Instead, it selects a single Snap from each month of 2024, offering a visual journey through your year. After the main recap, it seamlessly transitions into your Memories, showing flashbacks from the same dates in previous years.
How to View Your 2024 Snap Recap
Accessing your recap is simple:
- On the main Snapchat camera screen, swipe up to open Memories. (Don't press the shutter button.)
- Locate the highlighted "Your 2024 Snap Recap" video. It's usually prominently displayed.
- Tap the recap video (avoiding the share icon) to start playback. The recap automatically scrolls through your selected Snaps. You can tap the screen to advance more quickly.
You can save, edit, share, or even add your recap to your Story. Like other Snaps, it remains private unless you choose to share it.
Why Don't I Have a Snapchat Recap?
If your recap isn't showing up, don't worry. Snapchat is rolling out the feature gradually. Other factors, such as the number of saved Snaps, also influence eligibility. Consistent Snapchat usage throughout the year increases your chances of receiving a recap. Unfortunately, if it doesn't appear after some time, you can't request one.
