Even though the 20th Anniversary event in World of Warcraft has concluded, the game continues to offer exciting events to keep players engaged as they await the release of Patch 11.1 later this year. One such event, the Turbulent Timeways, which was a highlight during the content lull in Dragonflight, has made a triumphant return. This event presents a unique opportunity for players to earn a special reward by accumulating the Mastery of Timeways buff multiple times.
Turbulent Timeways Event Explained
Unlike the usual spread-out schedule of weekly Timewalking events, Turbulent Timeways packs a punch with five consecutive Timewalking events running from January 1 to February 25. Each week will spotlight a different set of Timewalking dungeons from various expansions, following this sequence:
- Week 1: Mists of Pandaria (1/07 to 1/14)
- Week 2: Warlords of Draenor (1/14 to 1/21)
- Week 3: Legion (1/21 to 1/28)
- Week 4: Classic (1/28 to 2/04)
- Week 5: The Burning Crusade (2/04 to 2/11)
- Week 6: Wrath of the Lich King (2/11 to 2/18)
- Week 7: Cataclysm (2/18 to 2/25)
Each time you conquer a Timewalking Dungeon, you'll earn a stack of the Knowledge of Timeways buff. This buff, lasting two hours and not expiring upon death, boosts your experience gain from monster kills and quest completions by five percent. Once you accumulate four stacks, the buff evolves into Mastery of Timeways, which lasts for three hours and amplifies your experience gain by a whopping 30%. Like its predecessor, this buff remains active even if you die, and completing another Timewalking Dungeon refreshes its timer.
To secure the Mastery of Timeways, you must reach four stacks of Knowledge of Timeways before the buff expires. It's crucial to stay active and avoid long AFK periods to prevent losing your stacks. If the Knowledge of Timeways duration runs out before reaching four stacks, you'll need to start over.
Turbulent Timeways Rewards
You might wonder if there's more to this event than just a leveling buff for alts. Indeed, there are enticing rewards to be claimed. One such reward is the Sandy Shalewing mount, available for purchase from Timewalking Vendors at a cost of 5,000 Timewarped Badges. This mount was a popular reward from the previous Turbulent Timeways event during Dragonflight.
In addition to the return of the Sandy Shalewing, a new mount, the Timely Buzzbee, is up for grabs. To claim this mount, you must achieve the Mastery of Timeways buff in five out of the seven weeks that Turbulent Timeways is active.
