As someone who transitioned from Xbox to PC gaming, I've always been content with the allure of Steam sales to keep my game library fresh. However, the recent announcements from Microsoft's Game Pass have finally swayed me. The surprise release of The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered by Bethesda and Virtuos, followed by the debut of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 from Sandfall Interactive, has truly captured my attention as an RPG enthusiast.
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Both Hit Game Pass This Week

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered was unveiled and released on April 22 across PC, consoles, and Game Pass. Like many, I spent the day downloading and the night immersed in its enchanting music. The remaster boasts new character models, enhanced combat interactions, and updated VFX. Despite adding over five new voice actors, Virtuos wisely preserved the charm of the original's quirky dialogue. The base edition of the remaster is priced at $49.99, including all original DLCs, with a deluxe edition available for an additional $10.

Meanwhile, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 marks the eagerly anticipated debut from French studio Sandfall Interactive. Set to launch at midnight PST tonight in the U.S., it boasts a stellar 92 rating on Metacritic, with IGN awarding it a 9/10 for its compelling story design, describing it as "a true modern throwback." The game's sleek UI echoes the Persona series, and its turn-based combat system is among the most innovative I've seen. Priced at $49.99, it matches the cost of the Bethesda remaster.
Although Expedition 33 was poised to be the highlight of April's Game Pass lineup, the unexpected release of Oblivion Remastered has cast a shadow over its debut. However, I see it as a win-win situation. Instead of shelling out $100 for two new titles, I opted for a $20 Game Pass Ultimate subscription. Now, the only dilemma is when I'll next see the outdoors.
Game Pass has recently expanded its library with major 2025 releases like Blue Prince, South of Midnight, and Avowed, alongside classics such as GTA V and the entire Call of Duty series. There truly is something for every type of gamer.
Game Pass Is a Ridiculously Good Deal Right Now
Game Pass Ultimate, priced at $19.99 per month, offers access to the complete Game Pass library across console, PC, and cloud gaming. The PC-only Game Pass is more affordable at $9.99 per month. The Standard and Core tiers, at $14.99 and $9.99 per month respectively, do not include day-one releases. The last price increase occurred in July 2024, and given the caliber of recent game additions, further hikes seem likely this year.
Although there are no current Game Pass deals, securing a three-month subscription could shield you from future price increases. For other gaming platforms, check out our comprehensive list of PS5, PC, and Switch deals. Also, U.S. preorders for the Nintendo Switch 2 will go live tonight.
