Hyper Light Breaker features seven crucial resources vital for acquiring gear, unlocking permanent upgrades, boosting survivability, and expanding your character roster. While their acquisition and use might not be immediately apparent, this guide clarifies their roles. Resources are conveniently tracked in the inventory menu's items tab.
How to Get & Use Bright Blood in Hyper Light Breaker
Bright Blood, the most common resource, is earned by defeating enemies, destroying objects, and opening crates in the Overgrowth. Selling gear to Hub vendors also yields Bright Blood.
Use Bright Blood to:
- Loot Blades and Rails from corpses in the Overgrowth.
- Open Stashes and crates in the Overgrowth.
- Purchase gear from Overgrowth and Hub vendors.
- Upgrade gear at Hub vendors.
How to Get & Use Gold Ration in Hyper Light Breaker
Gold Rations are earned by completing Cycles. Early game, this involves dying four times (using all Rezes). Afterward, an NPC at the Hub's Telepad will reset the Overgrowth, progressing towards Gold Ration acquisition.
Gold Rations are key to meta-progression. Use them to unlock permanent upgrades via Pherus Bit in the Hub and access new vendor services.
How to Get & Use Abyss Stone in Hyper Light Breaker
Defeating Crowns (challenging bosses accessed via Overgrowth gates) yields Abyss Stones. Remember, you need Prisms (marked by yellow diamonds on the map) before challenging Crowns.
Like Gold Rations, Abyss Stones are for meta-progression. Use them during loadout confirmation to upgrade Sycom stats and unlock new characters.
How to Get & Use Key in Hyper Light Breaker
Keys are occasionally found in unmarked small containers within the Overgrowth.
Keys bypass Overgrowth barriers, granting access to Stashes and other containers. They also unlock Labs, subterranean areas containing enemies and loot.
How to Get & Use MediGem in Hyper Light Breaker
MediGems, crucial for Medkits, are obtained from small glowing flowers in the Overgrowth.
You must first expand Medkit capacity (using one Gold Ration at Pherus Bit) before using MediGems. They're exchanged for Medkits at the Hub's Telepad and Overgrowth Shrines.
How to Get & Use Core in Hyper Light Breaker
Cores, another meta-progression resource, are found in Stashes (marked by chest icons) or by combining four Core Shards. Shards are earned from enemies that drop Prisms (yellow diamonds on the map) and from unmarked objects.
Use Cores during loadout confirmation to upgrade your Sycom, enhancing Breaker stats.
How to Get & Use Material in Hyper Light Breaker
Materials are primarily gained by using Bright Blood to open small chests (often marked with gems) in the Overgrowth. Selling gear at the Hub also provides Materials.
Use Materials to purchase gear from Hub and Overgrowth vendors. Similar to Bright Blood, but with more limited applications.
