Jason Momoa, renowned for his role as Aquaman in the now-defunct DC Extended Universe (DCEU), is set to bring the iconic character Lobo to life in the upcoming DC Universe (DCU) film, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, slated for release in June 2026. Lobo, an alien interstellar mercenary and bounty hunter known for his superhuman strength and immortality, originates from the planet Czarnia and is the last of his kind, much like Superman. The character was first introduced by Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen in Omega Men #3 back in 1983.
Momoa, who has expressed a deep affinity for Lobo, citing the character as his favorite in comics, shared his excitement and nervousness about taking on the role. In a recent interview with ScreenRant, he hinted at Lobo's appearance in the film, describing it as a brief yet impactful cameo. "Well, this is the role I've always wanted to play," Momoa said. "That’s the comic I loved, so I'm really nervous about it. It’s kind of a no-brainer to play this character. It's pretty big. I don't want to give away too much, but I mean, we look pretty dead on, exactly like the character, and he’s pretty rough and gruff and… I'll say the bike’s really cool."

When asked about the extent of Lobo's screen time, Momoa clarified, "It’s her movie, so it's great. I just come in for a little bit."
In January, DC co-chief James Gunn shared the first glimpse of Milly Alcock as Supergirl on the social platform Bluesky, marking the start of production for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. The film draws heavily from the graphic novel of the same name by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Norgueira. This standalone story follows an alien girl, Ruthye Marye Knoll, who seeks Supergirl's help to avenge her father's murder at the hands of the villain Krem of the Yellow Hills.
The cast of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow also features Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem, Eve Ridley as Ruthye, David Krumholtz as Supergirl's father Zor-El, and Emily Beecham as Supergirl's mother.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow marks the second film in the rebooted DCU, following James Gunn's Superman set to hit theaters this summer, with the DCU's Clayface movie scheduled for September 2026.
