As if they could resist bringing back Alicia Silverstone in her iconic yellow and plaid ensemble. The beloved actress is set to reprise her role as Cher Horowitz in a highly anticipated Clueless sequel series, which is currently in development for Peacock.
While plot details are being kept under wraps, we know that Silverstone's involvement is confirmed, and the series will continue the story from the original 1995 film. This project differs from the previously planned Clueless spin-off that Peacock had in the works back in 2020.
The creative team behind this new venture includes Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, known for their work on the original Gossip Girl series and its reboot, who will be writing the series alongside Jordan Weiss. The trio will also serve as executive producers, joined by Amy Heckerling, the original writer-director of Clueless, and Robert Lawrence, the film's original producer. CBS Studios and Universal Television are set to produce the series.
This isn't the first time Clueless has made the transition to the small screen. Following the film's success, a television adaptation aired on ABC and UPN from 1996 to 1999, with Rachel Blanchard stepping into the role of Cher instead of Silverstone.
Silverstone recently donned Cher's iconic look again for a 2023 Super Bowl commercial for Rakuten, showing her enthusiasm for returning to the character. It's clear she's eager to step back into Cher's fabulous world, and fans are thrilled to see her do so.
