A new trailer for the highly anticipated TV series Alien: Earth has surfaced online, giving fans an exciting glimpse into the upcoming show. The trailer, which was first showcased at Disney's 2025 Annual Meeting of Shareholders and shared by @CineGeekNews on X/Twitter, dives into the harrowing tale of survivors aboard a spaceship wrecked by a Xenomorph, now hurtling towards Earth.
The trailer not only showcases a new Xenomorph design but also captures the essence of Ridley Scott’s original 1979 horror classic. Viewers are transported into a MU/TH/UR control room strikingly similar to the one aboard the Nostromo, where Ripley famously uncovered the dire reality facing her crew.
In the gripping scenes, a frantic crew member pleads for help while banging on a sealed door as the Xenomorph advances. Morrow, portrayed by Babou Ceesay, appears indifferent to her cries, announcing that the "specimens are loose" and declaring the crew dead. He then sets the ship's trajectory to collide with Earth. The trailer then shifts to six soldiers approaching what seems to be the crash site, hinting at the dire fate that awaits them.
This trailer raises numerous questions: Will Morrow survive? What drives him? Are there any other survivors? Was anyone impregnated by the Xenomorph? And what deadly encounters await the soldiers?
Alien: Earth is set to unfold a gripping narrative where a mysterious space vessel crash-lands on Earth. A young woman, played by Sydney Chandler, along with a group of tactical soldiers, stumbles upon a discovery that pits them against the planet's most formidable threat.
Set in the year 2120, Alien: Earth fits neatly into the Alien timeline, positioned after Prometheus and just before the events of the original Alien. This placement has sparked fan theories about potential connections to the Nostromo's departure from Earth or Weyland-Yutani's discovery of the Xenomorphs. It's worth noting that the recently released Alien: Romulus serves as an interquel, occurring between Alien and Aliens.
Showrunner Noah Hawley, in an interview from January last year, shared his decision to steer away from the backstory introduced in Prometheus. He expressed a preference for the "retro-futurism" of the original films, having discussed "many, many elements" of the Alien series with Ridley Scott. Ultimately, Hawley chose to embrace the lore of the initial films, moving away from the bioweapon narrative.
Alien: Earth is scheduled to premiere on Hulu in the summer of 2025. Fans can also look forward to Alien: Romulus 2, which is currently in development.
