AMD has unveiled the Radeon RX 9060 XT at Computex 2025, building on the momentum from the RX 9070 XT released in March. While Team Red remains tight-lipped about the details of this new mid-range graphics card, we do have some key specifications to share.
The AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT comes equipped with 32 Compute Units and a robust 16GB of GDDR6 memory, positioning it well for 1080p gaming. Given its compact size, it's no surprise that the card's power consumption is significantly lower than the RX 9070 XT, with a Total Board Power (TBP) ranging from 150W to 182W. With half the Compute Units and power draw of its predecessor, the RX 9060 XT is expected to be less powerful but hopefully more budget-friendly. However, AMD has yet to disclose any pricing or release date information.
The Budget Battles Have Begun
Although it's frustrating that AMD hasn't revealed the price of the Radeon RX 9060 XT, it's likely to compete closely with the Intel Arc B580 and the recently-launched RTX 5060. Both these cards have power budgets of 145W and 190W, respectively, and were launched at around $250-$300. AMD is poised to target the same market segment.
When the AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT finally hits the market, gamers looking for a graphics card in the $300 range will have three compelling options from different manufacturers. If the RX 9060 XT stays within this price bracket, it could have a significant advantage; it will be the only GPU in this category boasting 16GB of VRAM, compared to 8GB from Nvidia and 12GB from Intel.
While I haven't yet had the chance to test the RX 9060 XT in the lab, its performance relative to its competitors remains to be seen. However, the larger frame buffer alone could extend its lifespan, as games become increasingly demanding on video memory. The final pricing of the RX 9060 XT is still up in the air, but it's shaping up to be the budget GPU to keep an eye on.
