Path of Exile 2's endgame presents a significant challenge. To ease the transition, developers have strategically placed easily-missed encounters within the main campaign. These encounters offer permanent stat boosts, extra passive skill points, and weapon skill points. One such encounter, the Sisters of Garukhan, provides a valuable +10% Lightning Resistance buff. This guide details its location and activation.
Where To Find the Sisters of Garukhan
The Sisters of Garukhan encounter appears twice: once in Act 2 and again in Act 2 Cruel. Activating the shrine at each location grants +10% Lightning Resistance. Its understated icon on the world map makes it easily overlooked.
Due to PoE 2's randomly generated maps, the Sisters' precise location within the Spires of Deshar isn't fixed. However, diligent exploration will reveal a shrine resembling the image above. Interaction triggers the encounter, activating nearby metal automatons. Activating the shrine simultaneously activates all automatons on the map.
A convenient strategy involves reaching the checkpoint near the exit before interacting with the shrine. This allows fast travel back to the shrine's vicinity, avoiding unnecessary combat.
Claiming the +10% Lightning Resistance Buff
The +10% Lightning Resistance is granted instantly upon interacting with the shrine. It's not a dropped item or a reward for defeating the automatons; activation is immediate upon touching the shrine.
Remember, the Sisters of Garukhan appear in both Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel. Activating the shrine in both locations yields a total of +20% Lightning Resistance.
Troubleshooting: Why Isn't My Lightning Resistance Increasing?
Many players are puzzled when their resistance values remain negative despite activating the Sisters of Garukhan. This is due to a game mechanic: completing each Act in PoE 2 imposes a -10% debuff to all elemental resistances (Chaos Resistance remains unaffected).
Therefore, after the Act 1 completion debuff, activating the Sisters in Act 2 results in a net zero Lightning Resistance. In Act 2 Cruel, the initial -40% debuff is partially offset, leaving a -30% Lightning Resistance after shrine activation.
To verify the buff's effect, remove all equipment and check your resistances in the endgame. A -40% elemental resistance indicates that you haven't missed the encounter.
