Bloodborne fans have eagerly awaited a remastered version for years, and recent Instagram posts have only fueled the speculation.
Hype for a Bloodborne Remaster Ignites on Instagram
A Cult Classic Deserves a Modern Update
Bloodborne, the critically acclaimed 2015 RPG, remains a beloved favorite. Many players yearn to revisit Yharnam's gothic streets on modern consoles. While unconfirmed, recent Instagram posts from FromSoftware and PlayStation Italia featuring the game have reignited the fervor.
On August 24th, FromSoftware shared three images showcasing the game's title and the hashtag "#bloodborne," including Djura in Old Yharnam, the Hunter in Yharnam's heart, and Charnel Lane's graveyards. While potentially nostalgic, Bloodborne enthusiasts on platforms like X (formerly Twitter) are meticulously analyzing these images for clues hinting at a remaster. The timing is particularly intriguing, especially given a similar post by PlayStation Italia on August 17th.
PlayStation Italia's post, translated, asked fans to choose their favorite iconic Bloodborne location, prompting many to express their hope for a Yharnam return on PC or modern consoles.
The Hunt for Bloodborne on Modern Consoles Continues
Released exclusively for PS4 in 2015, Bloodborne boasts a dedicated following and critical acclaim, often cited among the greatest video games ever created. Yet, a sequel or remaster remains elusive.
Fans cite the 2020 Demon's Souls remake (originally from 2009) as a potential precedent, but concerns linger about the potential wait. Demon's Souls' lengthy remake journey fuels anxieties that Bloodborne might face a similar delay. As the game nears its tenth anniversary, anticipation intensifies.
Fueling the speculation further, Bloodborne director Hidetaka Miyazaki, in a February Eurogamer interview, acknowledged the advantages of remastering on modern hardware, stating that improved accessibility for players is a key benefit.
However, Miyazaki clarified that the decision ultimately rests with Sony, not FromSoftware. Unlike Elden Ring, FromSoftware doesn't own Bloodborne's IP. In an IGN interview, he reiterated his inability to comment on Bloodborne's future due to these ownership rights.
Bloodborne's passionate fanbase continues to yearn for a remake. Despite its success, Sony hasn't expanded its availability beyond PS4. Only time will reveal if these recent speculations will materialize into a Bloodborne remaster.
