Crytek Announces Restructuring, Layoffs, and Crysis Game Delay

Crytek has announced a restructuring plan involving staff reductions and a delay in the next Crysis game. The company, facing financial difficulties, will lay off approximately 60 employees, representing about 15% of its 400-person workforce.

Simultaneously, Crytek revealed that development of the next Crysis title has been paused, a decision made in Q3 2024. The studio is now focusing all its resources on Hunt: Showdown 1896.

Internal efforts to reassign affected staff to other projects, including Hunt: Showdown 1896 and the upcoming Crysis game, proved unsuccessful. Despite cost-cutting measures, layoffs were deemed necessary.

Crytek's future plans center on expanding Hunt: Showdown 1896 content, while the new Crysis game's release is indefinitely postponed. The company assures affected employees will receive severance and career support. Despite the challenges, Crytek remains positive about its long-term prospects, emphasizing continued development of Hunt: Showdown 1896 and its CRYENGINE technology.
