Maximize Your Pokémon TCG Pocket Experience: A Booster Pack Guide

At launch, Pokémon TCG Pocket offers three booster packs from the Genetic Apex set: Charizard, Mewtwo, and Pikachu. This guide prioritizes which packs to open first to optimize your card collection and deck building.

Which Booster Packs Should You Open First?

The Charizard pack is undoubtedly the best starting point. It offers not only the powerful Charizard Ex and key cards for a strong Fire-type deck, but also Sabrina, considered the game's best Supporter card. Additional valuable cards like Starmie Ex, Kangaskhan, Greninja, Erika, and Blaine further enhance its value and versatility across multiple deck types.

Booster Pack Priority Ranking

Here's the recommended order for opening your booster packs:

  1. Charizard: This pack provides the most versatile and crucial cards, forming the foundation for multiple competitive decks.

  2. Mewtwo: A solid choice for building a Psychic-type deck centered around Mewtwo Ex and the Gardevoir line.

  3. Pikachu: While Pikachu Ex currently dominates the meta, its cards are highly specialized and less versatile. The introduction of Promo Mankey suggests Pikachu Ex's meta dominance may be short-lived.

While completing secret missions will eventually require opening all three packs, focusing on the Charizard pack first allows you to acquire essential and widely applicable cards. You can then strategically use Pack Points to acquire any missing pieces from the other packs.
