In Dynasty Warriors: Origins, sprinting across the vast battlefields is essential for reaching fellow officers swiftly and turning the tide of battle in your favor. However, there's no direct sprint button; your character automatically transitions into a sprint after running for a few steps. For even quicker traversal and tactical advantages, mounting a horse becomes indispensable. Horses not only allow you to move faster across the battlefield but also enable you to engage in hit-and-run combat strategies. Here's how you can unlock your first horse, enhance its abilities, and switch between different steeds.
How To Unlock The First Horse In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Unlocking your first horse is a breeze and comes free of charge during Chapter 1. After triumphing in the "Test Of Zheng Fei," your second major battle, keep an eye out for a merchant on your journey to the Battle Of Guangzong. Head northeast from Wan Castle, and before you reach the camp, you'll spot the merchant standing next to his horse. Simply engage in a conversation with him, and he'll generously gift you your first horse, which will be automatically equipped and ready for action.
To summon your horse and mount it instantly, press down on the left joystick if you're on a console, or hit the 'V' key on your keyboard.
How To Level Up Your Horse In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Leveling up your horse is straightforward and rewarding. Your steed earns XP whenever you complete missions or main story battles with it equipped, regardless of whether you actively use it during the battle. Note that Skirmishes won't contribute to your horse's XP. Missions, marked by a red diamond with a soldier icon, are your go-to for medium-length fights that boost your horse's experience. The amount of XP your horse gains is influenced by the battle's duration, how frequently you ride, and how aggressively you charge into enemy lines. As your horse levels up, it unlocks unique buffs at various milestones, with each horse offering different enhancements.
How To Switch Horses In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
While your first horse is automatically equipped, the game offers opportunities to acquire and switch to different steeds. You can manage your horses through the Battle Preparation menu, which you'll find as the last option on the left side of the screen. Each horse comes with its own set of perks, and some may be faster or offer superior advantages, making it wise to switch when you acquire a new one. To obtain new horses, you'll need to elevate the peace level of a region to its maximum. Upon achieving this, a reward, often a new horse, will be available at a nearby waypoint.
