An Elden Ring player's impressive challenge: conquering Messmer the Impaler daily until Elden Ring: Nightreign launches. This dedicated gamer, known as chickensandwich420, is documenting his remarkable feat.
A Daily Grind: Zero Hits, New Weapons

Instead of passively awaiting the release of the co-op spin-off, Nightreign, chickensandwich420 devised a unique challenge: defeating Messmer the Impaler daily on NG+7, using a different weapon each time and achieving a flawless, zero-hit victory. This undertaking began on December 16, 2024. His initial plan involved various FromSoftware bosses, but his university studies led him to focus on this single, demanding encounter.
Messmer, the notoriously difficult second antagonist from Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, presents a significant hurdle. Many players report needing 30 to over 150 attempts to defeat him, even with optimal equipment. chickensandwich420's commitment is truly impressive.

However, there's a caveat: he's set a June deadline. If Nightreign doesn't release by then, the challenge will expand to other games. This means potentially over 160 days of battling Messmer. At the time of writing, he's on day 23.
Elden Ring: Nightreign, a standalone three-player co-op adventure set within the Elden Ring universe, was announced at The Game Awards 2024, with a planned 2025 release. Given FromSoftware's track record, however, delays are possible. Only time will tell if chickensandwich420's dedication will be rewarded with Nightreign's timely arrival, or if a delayed launch will bring an end to his epic Messmer marathon.
