"In the coming weeks, we will be closely monitoring player feedback to ensure our latest changes meet expectations." This update brings a host of new features, including an entirely new region, a unique weapon, additional characters, new Animal Familiars, and much more.Here are the key highlights of Hades 2's expansive "The Olympic Update":
- New Region: Can you ascend to Olympus, the mountain of the gods? And if so, can you save it?
- New Weapon: Harness the otherworldly power of Xinth, the Black Coat — the last of the Nocturnal Arms.
- New Characters: Discover and befriend two new allies on their home turf to earn their favor.
- New Familiars: Bond with two new animal companions, once you manage to find them!
- Crossroads Renewal: Customize the Crossroads with dozens of new cosmetic items to reflect your personal style.
- Expanded Story: Engage with hours of new dialogue as the storyline deepens upon reaching the new region.
- World Map: Navigate between regions with a new, visually appealing world map.
- Mac Support: The game now runs natively on Macs equipped with Apple M1 or later processors.
Hades 2, the sequel to Supergiant Games' critically acclaimed 2020 roguelike action-adventure game, is currently available in early access. With a full release and console versions anticipated next year, Hades 2 has already garnered praise for its engaging gameplay and substantial content. The Olympic Update adds even more hours of content, including new dialogues and voice lines, further enriching the game's narrative. In addition to the new region and characters, several Nocturnal Arms and Abilities have been revamped. Enhancements to the Specials of the Witch's Staff, Sister Blades, Umbral Flames, and Moonstone Axe will allow Melinoe to better adapt to various playstyles. Melinoe's Dash has also been improved for faster, more responsive movement, enabling quicker escapes from hit-stun attacks. While Melinoe receives these upgrades, so too do the game's enemies and challenges.
Supergiant Games has introduced a variety of new enemies alongside the Mt. Olympus region, including new Wardens and a formidable Guardian. With the addition of this third region, adjustments have been made to enemies in the Surface area:
- Chronos: Reduced downtime between phases; other minor adjustments.
- Eris: Various adjustments; now less likely to stand in flames.
- Infernal Beast: Resurfaces sooner after the first phase; various minor adjustments.
- Polyphemus: No longer summons Elite foes; other minor adjustments.
- Charybdis: Reduced number of phases; flails with increased intensity and reduced downtime.
- Headmistress Hecate: Loses invulnerability sooner after her Sisters of the Dead are defeated.
- Ranged Foes: Fewer enemies will fire at you simultaneously.
- Various other minor changes to foes and combat encounters have been implemented to enhance gameplay dynamics.
