HBO's critically acclaimed The Last of Us series is slated for a four-season run, according to an executive.
Francesca Orsi of HBO indicated that a four-season arc is the current projection for the hit show, though she emphasized the absence of a finalized plan. "While I can't confirm it definitively, it's looking like this season, plus two more, and then we're done," Orsi told Deadline.
Regarding the highly anticipated Season 2 premiere in April 2025, Orsi teased, "The various factions vying for survival reveal themselves as a captivating group of survivalists, with a unique and distinct presentation." She added, "Their wardrobe and makeup set them apart from the average character."

There's still time to catch up before Season 2's April premiere. Unlike Season 1, which adapted the first game in its entirety, Season 2 will expand upon The Last of Us Part II, spanning multiple episodes. A "natural breakpoint" after seven episodes is planned for this season.
Season 2 introduces several new cast members: Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Tati Gabrielle as Mel. Catherine O'Hara's role remains shrouded in mystery.
IGN's review of The Last of Us Season 1 lauded it as "a stunning adaptation that will captivate newcomers and resonate with those familiar with Joel and Ellie's journey," earning a remarkable 9/10 score.
