Madoka Magica's New Spin-Off Introduces Ren Isuzu

by Sarah Feb 22,2025

Puella Madoka Magica Magia Exedra (we'll shorten that to Exedra from here on) has surpassed half a million pre-registrations and revealed a new character: the fan-favorite Ren Isuzu. This 3D turn-based RPG, based on the popular anime series, is set for imminent mobile release.

The pre-registration campaign, while successful, initially offered only fan kits (wallpapers, etc.) for existing characters, making Ren's inclusion a pleasant surprise for fans. Ren Isuzu, a shy yet strong magical girl, will add another dimension to the game's narrative, strengthening the bonds between characters.

The Magical Girl Life: Not So Easy

It's a fascinating irony that Puella Madoka Magica, celebrated for its intelligent and often subversive take on the magical girl trope, has become synonymous with its own extensive merchandising. However, this is hardly surprising given its widespread domestic and international popularity.

Magia Exedra's transition to a fully 3D, turn-based battle system, complete with impressive visual effects, marks a significant evolution from earlier 2D mobile adaptations. Fans who loved the original anime's animation will find much to appreciate in the game's battle sequences.

While awaiting Exedra's launch, consider exploring our weekly roundup of the top five new mobile games. This regularly updated list offers a diverse selection of new releases across various genres.
