Lego Unveils New Minecraft Movie Sets Featuring Familiar and Unexpected Mobs
Ahead of the release of the live-action Minecraft movie, Lego has announced two new sets offering a glimpse into the film's action-packed scenes and characters. As reported by GamesRadar, these sets – the Woodland Mansion Fighting Ring and The Ghast Balloon Village Attack – expand upon the existing Minecraft Lego lineup, incorporating minifigures of Jack Black's Steve and Jason Momoa's The Garbage Man.
The Woodland Mansion Fighting Ring ($49.99, 491 pieces) depicts a gladiatorial battle featuring Momoa's character facing off against a zombie riding a giant chicken. The scale of this unusual pairing remains unclear, but the chicken-zombie combination is significantly taller than The Garbage Man himself. This set also includes Steve, his companion Henry, a giant zombie pigman, a treasure chest, and a small spectator stand equipped with weaponry.
The Ghast Balloon Village Attack set ($69.99, 555 pieces) showcases the Nether's Ghast in a large-scale battle within a standard overworld village. This set includes a villager minifigure, two piglins, Steve, Natalie, Dawn, and an iron golem, promising a diverse and engaging conflict.
Both sets will be available starting March 1st, a month before the Minecraft movie's theatrical release on April 4th. The film's initial trailer faced criticism for the contrast between the live-action characters and the animated world, a reaction acknowledged by the film's director and producer in a November interview with IGN. Despite the initial backlash, they expressed confidence in their vision.
