Ninja Gaiden 2 Black Update Adds New Game Plus and More

by Elijah Mar 18,2025

Team Ninja has released a significant update (version 1.0.7.0) for Ninja Gaiden Master Collection, adding highly anticipated features and addressing player feedback. Available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam and Microsoft Store), this patch delivers New Game+, Photo Mode, and more.

New Game+ allows players to replay the game on any previously completed difficulty, carrying over acquired weapons and Ninpo. Note that these items will reset to level 1, and you can't immediately jump to a higher difficulty.

A welcome quality-of-life improvement is the option to hide the projectile weapon carried on Ryu Hayabusa's back. This toggle is conveniently located in the Options > Game Settings menu.

Balance adjustments include reduced enemy HP in Chapters 8 and 11, increased enemy numbers in Chapters 13 and 14, and a damage buff to some of Ayane's attacks.

Numerous bug fixes are also included, addressing high-performance PC issues, game-breaking bugs in specific chapters, and more. See the full patch notes below for details.

Ninja Gaiden Master Collection originally launched as a surprise during the January Xbox Developer Direct. This updated version, built using Unreal Engine 5, boasts enhanced visuals, new playable characters (depending on the game included in the collection), and improved battle support functions. IGN's 8/10 review praised the visual improvements while noting some adjustments to enemy health and numbers.
