Obsidian's Confidence in Upcoming Releases

He highlighted the team's experience, with many having worked on the original title, contributing to the smooth development. The CEO acknowledged the difficulties of juggling multiple projects simultaneously – Grounded, Pentiment, and the initial stages of Avowed and Outer Worlds 2 – leading to a period of intense pressure. He candidly admitted a period of strained development, even mentioning discussions about potentially halting Outer Worlds 2 to focus solely on Avowed. However, Obsidian persevered, ultimately completing all projects.
Urquhart reflected on the successful launches of Grounded and Pentiment, emphasizing that Avowed is shaping up exceptionally well, and The Outer Worlds 2 is looking "incredible." While specific details remain under wraps, the delay of Avowed to 2025 suggests potential scheduling adjustments for other titles.
The lack of recent updates on The Outer Worlds 2, first announced in 2021, has been acknowledged by Urquhart, along with the possibility of a launch date shift. Despite this, he reassured fans of Obsidian's commitment to delivering high-quality games, stating that while initial timelines might not be met, the studio is on track to release all its projects. Both The Outer Worlds 2 and Avowed are slated for release on PC and Xbox Series S/X.
