"Pokémon TCG: 151 Booster Bundle Available Now on Amazon"

by Nicholas Apr 28,2025

The Pokémon 151 booster bundles have made a comeback on Amazon, which would typically be great news for collectors. However, the excitement is tempered by the fact that the price has more than doubled the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). While Amazon lists the bundle at over $60, the actual retail price is just $26.94. It's hard to call this a "deal," yet the rapid sell-out rate of this set makes it difficult to dismiss entirely.

What continues to draw me to the 151 set is its commitment to quality beyond mere nostalgia. The card art in this collection transcends the typical shiny-on-blank aesthetic. Take the Illustration Rare Bulbasaur, for instance, which appears to be hiding amidst a jungle of oversized leaves, reminiscent of a Ghibli film. It's captivating. Then there's Alakazam ex, depicted in a cluttered study as if it's pursuing a psychic PhD. The charm is undeniable.

The strength of this set lies in its seamless integration of art and gameplay. Cards like Blastoise ex not only boast impressive abilities but also look like they could hang in an art gallery. Even Charmander has seen an upgrade, now with 70 HP, which is enough to withstand minor attacks that would have previously knocked it out. This subtle yet significant improvement reflects the set's overall thoughtful design.

Charmander - 168/165

Zapdos ex - 202/165

Blastoise ex - 200/165

Venusaur ex - 198/165

Charizard ex - 199/165

Not every card is a standout. Zapdos ex, for example, is functional but doesn't particularly excel in either art or gameplay. However, the overall quality of the set remains high. Venusaur ex masterfully blends function and style, while Squirtle's artwork successfully places a cartoon turtle in a believable ecosystem. The meticulous attention to detail in these designs is truly commendable.

Paying above MSRP is never ideal, but it's hard to deny the value packed into this set. If you're looking for packs that are enjoyable to open and offer a strong chance at valuable pulls, the Pokémon 151 booster bundle remains a solid choice—even if it means accepting Amazon's fluctuating prices.
