The Pokémon GO Tour Pass: A Free and Deluxe Option
Niantic's latest Pokémon GO offering, the Tour Pass, has players asking, "What's the cost?" The good news? A free version is available for the Pokémon GO Tour: Unova event, starting February 24th at 10 AM local time. But what exactly does it offer?
The free Tour Pass introduces a new points-based system. Players earn Tour Points by completing in-game tasks—catching Pokémon, raiding, hatching eggs, and tackling daily Pass Tasks. These points unlock rewards, increase rank, and boost event bonuses.
Higher ranks unlock better rewards, including Pokémon encounters, Candy, Poké Balls, and increased Catch XP bonuses (1.5x at Tier 2, 2x at Tier 3, and 3x at Tier 4). The top reward in the free pass is a Zorua encounter with a special background. Niantic promises additional details regarding further rewards.
A paid "Tour Pass Deluxe" ($14.99 USD or equivalent) is also available, offering an instant Victini encounter, enhanced rewards, and faster progression.
The Lucky Trinket: A Deluxe Reward
The Tour Pass Deluxe's ultimate prize is the Lucky Trinket.
This single-use item transforms a friend (at least Great Friends status) into a Lucky Friend, enabling a Lucky Pokémon trade without requiring Best Friend status. Note: Lucky Trinkets earned during GO Tour: Unova expire on March 9, 2025.
Pokémon GO is available now.
