If you're a *Pokemon* fan with any kind of social media account, you've likely noticed the buzz around Pokemon vending machines. As The Pokemon Company expands these machines across the US, fans are buzzing with questions—and we're here to provide the answers you need.
What Are Pokemon Vending Machines?
*Pokemon* vending machines are innovative automated units designed to dispense a variety of *Pokemon* merchandise, much like grabbing a soda, though perhaps not as budget-friendly. The machines currently making waves in the US focus primarily on TCG (Trading Card Game) products. Initially tested in Washington back in 2017, their success has led to a broader rollout in various grocery store chains across the country over the past few years.
These machines are visually striking, featuring vibrant colors and unmistakable *Pokemon* branding. During a recent visit to a Kroger grocery store, I found one right at the entrance, impossible to miss. Unlike older models, these machines boast a user-friendly touch screen interface. You can easily browse and select TCG items, then complete your purchase using a credit card. The experience is enhanced with charming *Pokemon* animations, making it both fun and engaging to buy a pack of cards—or several.
After your purchase, the machine will prompt you for an email address to send a digital receipt. It's important to note, however, that The Pokemon Company does not accept returns on TCG merchandise bought from these machines.

In the US, these *Pokemon* vending machines are stocked mainly with *Pokemon TCG* products, including Elite Trainer Boxes, Booster Packs, and related items. During a visit to the *Pokemon TCG* vending machine at Kroger over the busy Thanksgiving shopping weekend, I was pleasantly surprised to find it well-stocked. While the newest Elite Trainer Boxes were sold out, there were plenty of Booster Packs and older Trainer Boxes available.
These machines typically do not carry plushies, t-shirts, video games, or other *Pokemon* merchandise. However, a small number of Pokemon Center vending machines in Washington State offer a broader range of products, though they seem to be gradually replaced by the more focused TCG machines.
