Get ready for the Pokémon GO Tour: Unova! Black and White Kyurem, along with a Shiny Meloetta, are making their Pokémon GO debut. This guide details how to obtain and fuse these powerful Pokémon.
Kyurem's Dual Forms Arrive
Following the December 2024 announcement, Niantic confirmed the arrival of Black Kyurem, White Kyurem, and Shiny Meloetta for the February 2025 Unova Tour. In-person event attendees in New Taipei City, Taiwan, and Los Angeles, USA (February 21-23, 2025) can participate in five-star raids to capture Kyurem and then fuse it.
Kyurem Fusion:
Fusion requires specific resources:
- Black Kyurem: 1,000 Volt Fusion Energy, 30 Kyurem Candy, 30 Zekrom Candy
- White Kyurem: 1,000 Blaze Fusion Energy, 30 Kyurem Candy, 30 Reshiram Candy
Fusion Energy is earned by defeating Black or White Kyurem in raids. Reversion to the base form is free. Shiny Kyurem, Reshiram, and Zekrom have increased encounter rates during the event.
A global event (March 1-2, 2025) – Pokémon GO Tour: Unova – Global – offers free access to these Pokémon for all players.
Meloetta's Shiny Debut
Shiny Meloetta makes its first appearance! In-person event ticket holders can complete a Masterwork Research task to encounter this Pokémon. The research doesn't expire, allowing flexible completion.
Unova's Legendary Trio
Kyurem, Reshiram, Zekrom, and Meloetta originated in Pokémon Black and White (Generation V). Black and White 2 introduced Kyurem's alternate forms, capable of learning Ice Burn and Freeze Shock, mirroring their Pokémon GO counterparts. This limited-time event brings the complete Unova experience to Pokémon GO.
