How to Become a Shinigami in Hollow Era
At the start of Hollow Era, you begin as a Soul Spirit. To transition into a Shinigami, or Soul Reaper, you must accept the initial quest from the Hurt Shinigami NPC. She's in dire need of assistance, and once you commit to becoming a Shinigami, your path is set; you cannot revert to playing as a Hollow unless you later become a Visored. For those interested in the Hollow route, refer to our separate guide on Hollow progression.
When choosing between Shinigami and Hollow, act swiftly. Opting for Hollow involves breaking your chain, whereas choosing Shinigami means your chain will gradually break on its own every two minutes. If the chain fully breaks, you'll transform into a Hollow. In this scenario, our resurrection moves lists guide can help you navigate your Hollow journey.
Hollow Era Shinigami Quests Guide
Your initial quest as a Shinigami involves purifying 6 Lost Souls, a task that aligns with the Shinigami's duty to maintain the balance between life and death. Subsequent quests can be obtained from the NPC near the Hurt Shinigami, including delivering a letter to a Doctor friend near the hospital.
Early quests are an excellent opportunity to familiarize yourself with your powers. Consider purchasing a $1,000 random sword of power from a Urahara shop, and if funds allow, utilize the bus stop for $200 as a fast travel option, as the map is expansive. Alternatively, for a more permanent solution, you can buy infinite fast travel for 149 Robux from the in-game menu.
Quests are continuously marked with a red crosshair, guiding you through tasks like defeating Hollows, Corrupted Shinigamis, and progressing through various quest types, including repeatable, progression, and path-specific quests like Vizard and Airwalk.
Full Soul Reaper Skill Tree and Reiatsu
To maximize your Shinigami Reiatsu, strategic investment of skill points is crucial. The Reiatsu Skill Tree features powerful Kido abilities exclusive to Shinigami.
- Caja Negacion: Launches a lightning beam from your finger. When paired with Electric, it spreads electricity outward from the target.
- Shakkaho: Generates a red energy ball in your hand, causing an explosion on impact. Ragdoll enables you to knock back opponents, while Fire sets the target ablaze.
- Chain Bind: Summons energy chains to pull enemies toward you.
- Prison of Light: Encases the enemy in six light rods, immobilizing them—a great tool against agile foes.
- Thunder Sear: A slow-moving lightning ball that causes electric damage and explodes on contact, ideal for crowd control.
How to Get Shikai in Hollow Era
Reaching level 15 unlocks the Shikai Training quest from Urihiro. You must defeat Urahara Kisuke to earn 1,700 experience points and access Shikai powers.
Warning: Facing Kisuke at level 15 can be challenging without a well-optimized character. Consider grinding up to level 25 or higher before attempting this quest.
Using Shikai
Upon unlocking Shikai, your weapon gains a random mighty ability. If dissatisfied with your sword's new power, you can re-roll it at the Urahara Shop for a fee. The Rage Bar fills with damage dealt or received, and activating Shikai (default key Y) consumes Reiatsu until it depletes.
Hollow Era Shikai Mastering
Your Shikai Mastery Level grows with the Mastery Points earned by using Shikai Skills. Higher Mastery Levels reduce Rage consumption and come with unique aura effects and visual enhancements:
- Mastery Level 1: 1-149 Points. Grants Transparent Aura.
- Mastery Level 2: 150-299 Points. Grants a brighter aura with particles.
- Mastery Level 3: 300-499 Points. Grants a Lightning boost.
- Mastery Level 4: 500+ Points. Grants a zone of flying stones around you.
Becoming a Visored in the Hollow Era
Once committed to the Shinigami path, you can't revert to Hollow—unless you become a Visored. This transformation allows you to switch between Shinigami and Hollow forms using a Hollow Mask, but you must first reach level 50 to unlock the Vizard fighting style at the Vizard’s Warehouse.
To become a Visored, you'll need the Hogyoku, obtained by defeating the King of Hueco Mundo with a mere 1% drop rate. This is the first step toward unlocking Visored progression and mastering the Vizard fighting style.
Hollow Era Visored Mastering
As a Visored, you gain access to Mask Control to minimize the risk of Hollow control and extend the duration of your mask, enhancing your damage output with Hollow powers.
Visored Abilities in Hollow Era
- Hollow Mask: Allows you to command your inner Hollow and wear the mask at will.
- Cero: Charges a beam of Reiatsu for significant damage.
- Final Cero: Pins the enemy and crushes them with a powerful Cero from above.
- Vasto Rage: Temporarily transforms you into the mightiest Hollow type, unleashing your full potential.
What About Hollow Era Bankai?
Currently, Bankai is not available in Hollow Era. However, given the game's popularity, future updates may introduce this advanced ability. Stay tuned for announcements regarding Bankai's potential release.
