Hazelight's beloved co-op adventure game, Split Fiction, has achieved an impressive sales milestone, reaching nearly four million copies sold. Publisher EA celebrated this achievement in their latest financial results, describing the game's launch as "hugely successful" and crediting it as a key factor in their strong finish to the 2025 financial year.
In response to the news, Hazelight took to social media with enthusiasm, stating, "4 MILLION SOLD!!!! So many of you have picked up Split Fiction already, it’s amazing… Seeing the fun you have with our game and the love you show for Mio, Zoe, and each other warms our hearts here at Hazelight. And so many hot dogs made… "
Split Fiction immerses players in the imaginative worlds crafted by two fiction writers, offering a groundbreaking co-op experience where two players can enjoy the game even if only one owns it. Launched in March, the game quickly became a hit for Hazelight and its designer, Josef Fares, selling over two million copies in its first week. It's also set to be a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2, as Hazelight continues to develop its next project.
Adding to the excitement, a movie adaptation of Split Fiction is currently in development. Story Kitchen, known for their work on the Sonic films, is spearheading the project, assembling a team that includes writers, a director, and actress Sydney Sweeney as part of the cast.
IGN's review of Split Fiction praised it as "an expertly crafted and absorbing co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another," noting that it offers "a rollercoaster of gameplay ideas and styles that are usually discarded as quickly as they’re introduced. This keeps it fabulously fresh for its full, 14-hour duration."
