Triangle Strategy Returns to Nintendo Switch eShop
Good news for RPG fans! Triangle Strategy, the acclaimed tactical RPG from Square Enix, is back on the Nintendo Switch eShop after a temporary removal. The game's brief absence, lasting several days, has ended, allowing players to once again purchase and download the title.
The popular game, lauded for its return to classic tactical RPG gameplay, drew comparisons to franchises like Fire Emblem. Its strategic unit placement and combat mechanics resonated strongly with players.
Square Enix's recent acquisition of the publishing rights from Nintendo is speculated to be the reason for the delisting, although no official explanation was given. This isn't the first time a Square Enix title has been temporarily removed from the eShop; Octopath Traveler experienced a similar, albeit longer, absence last year. However, Triangle Strategy's return was significantly quicker, resolving within four days.
This event underscores the strong ongoing relationship between Square Enix and Nintendo. The companies have a long history of collaborations, highlighted by the Switch exclusivity of the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series (before its multi-platform release) and the initial Switch-exclusive release of Dragon Quest 11. Even with Square Enix expanding to other platforms, the trend of initial console exclusivity for major titles, like the upcoming Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (currently PlayStation 5 exclusive), continues. The return of Triangle Strategy to the Switch eShop is welcome news for Nintendo fans and further cements this important partnership.
