Street Fighter 6 Fans Excited for February 5

Summary

  • Mai Shiranui will be added to Street Fighter 6 on February 5, bringing her classic moves with unique changes.
  • Alongside her traditional motion input moves, players can enjoy her classic outfit and new Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves costumes.
  • Mai's storyline in Street Fighter 6 involves tracking down Terry's brother Andy in Metro City, facing off against various challengers.

A new gameplay trailer for Street Fighter 6 offers fans an in-depth look at Mai Shiranui, confirming her addition to the roster on February 5. The anticipation for more content in Street Fighter 6 has been high, especially following the release of the second Year 2 DLC character, Terry Bogard, on September 24, 2024, which left a significant gap in content updates.

Capcom surprised many fans during Summer Game Fest by announcing a second year of content for Street Fighter 6. The announcement was warmly received, especially with the exciting news of a collaboration between Capcom and SNK to bring iconic fighters Terry Bogard and Mai Shiranui to the game. Alongside them, M. Bison and Elena were also confirmed. With Bison and Terry already available, the spotlight now shifts to Mai Shiranui, set to join the fray in just a few weeks.

The latest trailer showcases Mai Shiranui in her classic Fatal Fury costume, as well as her new look from the upcoming City of the Wolves. Capcom has assured fans that Street Fighter 6's version of Mai will retain her familiar moves, albeit with unique properties and motion input instead of charge attacks. She keeps her iconic fans and other classic moves, with the ability to earn "Flame Stacks" to enhance her attacks even further.

Capcom also teased Mai's storyline in Street Fighter 6. While Terry's journey was about testing his skills against strong opponents, Mai's mission in Metro City is more straightforward: to track down Terry's brother Andy, whom she believes recently visited the city. Her journey leads to confrontations with other characters, such as Juri, testing her skills and abilities.

The extended period between DLC releases has left many fans frustrated, not only due to the lack of major updates but also because of the game's battle pass system. The recent Boot Camp Bonanza battle pass included numerous customization items, but fans noted the absence of character skins, focusing instead on avatar items. This has led to ongoing frustration among the community, especially when compared to the regular addition of character skins in Street Fighter 5.
