Valve's MOBA Shooter Deadlock Apparently Has Another, Even More Exclusive Build

by Madison May 13,2025

Valve's MOBA hero shooter, Deadlock, remains in an exclusive invite-only testing phase, with the developer continuously refining the game. However, a recent livestream blunder has seemingly unveiled the presence of an even more secretive playtest, featuring new characters and updated designs.

The unintended reveal came from a livestream by a prominent Deadlock player, who inadvertently showcased a different version of the game. According to Eurogamer, the stream inadvertently displayed a roster with fresh characters such as the retro-themed Doorman, the scholarly Bookworm, and the eerie Vampirebat, alongside visual updates for existing characters like Ivy. Although the streamer quickly corrected the mistake, the cat was already out of the bag.

PlayAs of now, no further details have emerged, but the leak is still quite recent. Deadlock is no stranger to such incidents, with its very existence and features previously leaked. While it's not unusual for games to have test builds for broader player feedback, it's somewhat surprising for Deadlock, given its tightly controlled early access status.

The reaction from the community is mixed, as evident on the r/DeadlockTheGame subreddit, where some players expressed frustration over feeling left out of the loop. Deadlock has undergone numerous changes, including the removal of an entire lane, and Valve has utilized the Hero Labs mode for further testing new heroes. This new, highly exclusive build suggests an additional layer of testing with a select group of players.

Despite its limited access, Deadlock has attracted a significant player base and garnered attention from fans of both shooters and MOBAs. Valve's involvement naturally brings attention to any new project, and Deadlock's mysterious rollout and ongoing invite-only status only heighten its allure. The revelation of this second, ultra-exclusive build adds yet another layer of intrigue for players to ponder.

It's essential, however, to maintain perspective on the real news, as one Reddit user humorously remarked: "Oh great, as if one Lash wasn't bad enough, now there are two of him!"
