Ever heard the phrase that two people are like oil and water? Well, what about fire and water? Ah yes, two diametrically opposed elements, sort of. And in the newly released Vigilant: Burn & Bloom, it's your job to keep these two elements in check, lest an alien world be consumed by fire.
Vigilant: Burn & Bloom is an endless survival game with a twist. You play as the Sentinel, an underground guardian spirit newly awakened by the arrival of a mysterious meteorite on your alien world. Your mission is to manage and maintain the ecosystem's balance while preventing mysterious, fiery elemental beings from engulfing the world in flames.
Interestingly, you're not necessarily opposed to these fire beings. Your role involves managing them and keeping them in balance, as well as destroying them when they become too powerful. Over time, you'll return to your underground sanctuary, affectionately dubbed your "Batcave" by the developers, to upgrade and enhance your powers and abilities.
Fire me up
The eternal battle between elements is a common theme in media. However, it often feels like a clear-cut battle of good versus evil, which isn't how nature operates in real life. Vigilant: Burn & Bloom takes a more nuanced approach to this dynamic.
While you'll still be rotating your phone, blasting fire elementals with water orbs and enjoying plenty of action, the game isn't just a straightforward, satisfying kill-fest. This nuanced approach adds depth to the gameplay, earning Burn & Bloom significant praise.
Vigilant: Burn & Bloom is currently in soft launch and available on the iOS App Store. A worldwide iOS release is scheduled for December, with an Android launch planned for the first quarter of 2025. Keep an eye out, and make sure your fire extinguisher is ready!
