Palworld Switch Port Unlikely And It's Not Because of Pokemon

by Madison Apr 12,2025

The possibility of a Nintendo Switch version of Palworld remains uncertain as Takuro Mizobe, the CEO of Pocketpair, has highlighted significant technical challenges. While not completely dismissing the idea, Mizobe's comments suggest that bringing the game to the Switch could be a complex endeavor due to the high PC specifications required for Palworld. "Palworld’s specs on PC are higher than the Switch’s specs. So maybe it’s hard to port to Switch just for technical reasons," Mizobe explained in a recent interview with Game File.

Despite these hurdles, Mizobe remains hopeful about expanding Palworld to new platforms. Discussions are ongoing about potential releases on other systems, though Pocketpair has no concrete announcements at this stage. Mizobe also mentioned in an earlier Bloomberg interview that the company is considering bringing the game to additional platforms like PlayStation and mobile devices, and is open to partnerships or acquisitions, although no buyout talks with Microsoft have taken place.

Palworld on Switch Might Be Impossible?

In addition to platform considerations, Mizobe shared his vision for enhancing Palworld's multiplayer features. The upcoming arena mode, described as an "experiment," is a step towards realizing his goal of a true PvP mode. Mizobe's ultimate ambition is to incorporate elements reminiscent of popular survival games like Ark and Rust, which are known for their challenging environments, deep resource management, and extensive player interactions, including PvP and PvE elements.

Ark challenges players with dangerous wildlife, including dinosaurs, and environmental hazards like extreme weather and natural disasters. Similarly, Rust features environmental challenges, wildlife, and radiation zones. Mizobe's dream is to bring a similar intensity and depth to Palworld, enhancing the game's multiplayer experience.

Since its launch, Palworld has achieved remarkable success, selling 15 million copies on PC within the first month and attracting 10 million players on Xbox, where it is part of the Game Pass subscription service. The game's popularity is set to grow with the upcoming free Sakurajima update, scheduled for release on Thursday. This update will introduce a new island, a PvP arena, and more, promising to enrich the Palworld experience for its vast community of players.
