Fell Omen Returns: Elden Ring Testers Experience Morgott Jump-Scare Invasions

by Oliver Apr 01,2025

The Fell Omen bosses have become a notorious feature in the world of Elden Ring, and it's thrilling to see FromSoftware unleash them once again in Elden Ring Nightreign across the Lands Between. Morgott, a well-known adversary from the original game, has made a notable return. In Elden Ring, players encountered his phantom versions unexpectedly throughout the campaign, and this element of surprise has been cleverly integrated into Nightreign with an upgraded version of Morgott, known as the unnamed Fell Omen, capable of jump-scare invasions.

Morgott isn't the only boss to invade players in Nightreign, but his inclusion is particularly apt. His sudden appearances align perfectly with his behavior in Elden Ring, and in Nightreign, he's equipped with new voice lines and additional moves. It's a fitting challenge, especially when players can bring friends into the fray.

Beyond invasions, the Fell Omen can also appear as an end-of-night boss in Elden Ring Nightreign, serving as a formidable adversary as the day concludes during the game's test phase.

Early testers, including the renowned player "Let Me Solo Her," have faced off against the Fell Omen during the Elden Ring Nightreign sessions. The community's feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with many praising Morgott's invasion mechanic as a highlight of the game. Players have reported encounters in various settings, from elevators to towers, showcasing the unpredictability and excitement of these invasions.

The sudden appearances of the Fell Omen have sparked interest in seeing other iconic enemies invade players. The Pursuer from Dark Souls 2 is a popular suggestion among fans, while others dream of encountering Bloodborne's Hunters, though the latter seems less likely.

There are hints of deeper mechanics with the Fell Omen invasions. For instance, GamesRadar reported an invasion where the Omen defeated a co-op partner and left a curse mark on the player. This suggests intriguing new gameplay elements that could develop as more players explore Nightreign.

Despite some server issues during the first network test, many players still managed to dive into the Lands Between over the weekend. As we await the full release on May 30, anticipation builds for how Elden Ring Nightreign will evolve. In the meantime, be sure to check out our hands-on impressions of Elden Ring Nightreign for a deeper look into the game's exciting new features.
