Fallout 76 Season 20 Out Now
Unleash the Ghoul Within
Bethesda announced on March 18 that the latest update for Fallout 76, titled "The Ghoul Within," is now live. This update introduces a variety of ghoul-related features, mechanics, and new cosmetic options that allow players to revamp their C.A.M.P. in style.
Players can now embark on the "Leap of Faith" questline to undergo Ghoulification, opening up a new area of the Savage Divide. Here, they'll encounter unique characters who aid in their transformation into a Ghoul. This transformation grants players exclusive abilities like Glow and Feral, along with access to 30 new Ghoul-exclusive Perks, or "Gherks."
The Feral ability replaces traditional hunger and thirst mechanics with a meter that, when full, enhances various stats. At 0%, however, it dramatically alters gameplay, boosting melee damage by 150% while reducing Endurance, Charisma, Max HP, Max AP, and both Hip-fire and V.A.T.S. accuracy significantly.
On the other hand, the Glow ability lets players consume radiation, granting immunity to diseases and mutations, and causing them to emit a glow. This not only increases their maximum health and heals damage but also enhances their Ghoul-exclusive Perks.
Players have 28 perks to choose from, plus two new legendary perks tailored for Ghouls. Note that Ghouls won't benefit from perks related to Hunger, Thirst, or Chem Resistance, as these are unnecessary for their new form.
A Day In The Life of A Ghoul
As a Ghoul, navigating the wasteland becomes more manageable thanks to the array of Gherks and abilities at your disposal. However, certain factions like the Brotherhood of Steel may react negatively, potentially blocking access to specific questlines.
Fortunately, a new NPC named Jaye offers disguises that enable Ghouls to interact with restricted content. If the Ghoul life isn't to your liking, you can revert to being human via the Character Screen, though this is a one-way trip. Should you wish to become a Ghoul again, you can purchase the Ghoul Retransformation for 1000 Atoms.
Level 50 Character Boost and Season 20 Patch Notes
New and returning players can now accelerate their journey with the Level 50 Character Boost, available for 1500 Atoms in the Season 20 update. This boost helps players dive into multiplayer features like Daily Ops and Public Events, as well as some story content, right from the start.
The update also includes various bug fixes, balance adjustments, accessibility improvements, and combat tweaks. Bethesda has also announced the next update, "The Big Bloom," set for April 29, as part of their season calendar.
Since its launch in November 2018, Fallout 76 has overcome initial challenges and now enjoys a "Mostly Positive" rating on Steam, with 76% of its reviews being positive. The game is available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC.
