Guild Wars 2 Unveils Housing System in Janthir Wilds

Guild Wars 2's upcoming Janthir Wilds expansion introduces Homesteads, a revolutionary player housing system offering unparalleled customization and convenience. A recent preview revealed over 300 initially available placeable decorations, with a planned expansion to 800+ by the expansion's conclusion. This instanced system eliminates the competitive aspects of housing found in other MMOs, granting players immediate access early in the Janthir Wilds storyline.

Homesteads boast complete freedom of placement, allowing for creative arrangements with full X, Y, and Z axis control. Players can even park their mounts, skiffs, and alt characters within their personal instance, the latter gaining a rest buff. Daily resource nodes, including a mine, logging camp, and farm, provide ongoing rewards. Furthermore, dedicated armor and weapon stands showcase prized equipment and outfits.

The acquisition of decorations will be diverse, encompassing a new crafting system within Janthir Wilds, participation in Guild Wars 2's holiday events, and the in-game cash shop. This feature, described by ArenaNet as the "most player-friendly housing system in an MMORPG," promises a unique and enjoyable addition to the Guild Wars 2 experience, launching alongside the Janthir Wilds expansion on August 20th. The two new zones in the mysterious Isles of Janthir, a revamped Warclaw, and the first new weapon type since launch further enhance this substantial content update.
