Mastering Dual Outfit Effects in Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered, while focused on action, offers robust weapon and outfit customization. This guide details how to combine the benefits of multiple outfits, leveraging a powerful gameplay mechanic.

Remastered Version Essential

This dual-outfit technique is exclusive to Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered. A recent patch introduced transmog, allowing you to retain an outfit's stats while changing its appearance. This eliminates the need to sacrifice aesthetics for optimal stats.

Outfit Requirements

This method isn't universal. While your primary outfit is flexible, your secondary (for visual transmog) must be one of these three:

  • Banuk Werak Runner
  • Banuk Werak Chieftain
  • Banuk Werak Chieftain Adept (New Game Plus only)

These outfits are located within the Frozen Wilds DLC, accessible without completing the main game.

Obtaining Banuk Werak Outfits

Banuk Werak Runner

Reach the Frozen Wilds by defeating the initial machine (adjust difficulty or upgrade gear if needed). Locate a Bluegleam Merchant (blue merchant icon) and purchase the Banuk Werak Runner outfit.

Resource Normal Cost Ultra Hard Cost
Metal Shards 1000 5000
Desert Glass 10 20
Slagshine Glass 10 20

Banuk Werak Chieftain & Banuk Werak Chieftain Adept

The superior Banuk Werak Chieftain requires completing the "For the Werak" quest (Frozen Wilds' third main quest). Consider lowering difficulty for easier completion. The Adept version is available only in New Game Plus via the same method.

Combining Outfit Effects

Equip your desired outfit (optimizing stats with Weaves). Then, use the transmog feature to apply the appearance of one of the three Banuk Werak outfits. These provide an auto-healing perk after taking damage.

This strategy lets you retain your chosen outfit's stats while gaining the auto-heal. Combining this with an outfit like the Shield Weaver creates a highly resilient character. The Chieftain and Chieftain Adept offer significantly faster healing than the Runner.
