Hyper Light Breaker, the eagerly awaited sequel to the indie hit Hyper Light Drifter, revolutionizes the gameplay experience. Transitioning from a 2D pixel art style to a stunning 3D environment, it retains its visual charm while introducing a rogue-lite genre infused with extraction mechanics. Unlike its predecessor, which was a linear RPG, Hyper Light Breaker embraces multiplayer functionality, allowing players to team up for a more dynamic and engaging experience.
Playing Hyper Light Breaker with friends significantly enhances the gameplay, making challenges more manageable and victories more rewarding. This guide will walk you through the process of setting up co-op sessions with friends, as well as participating in public matchmaking for those without a gaming crew.
How To Play Hyper Light Breaker With Friends
To enjoy Hyper Light Breaker in co-op mode with your friends, you'll need to create a Private multiplayer room. Once you spawn into the Cursed Outpost, the central hub of Hyper Light Breaker, locate the counter to the left of your commander, Pherus Bit, who is positioned directly across from the doorway leading into the Outpost.
Interact with the counter by pressing the designated button (usually R1 or RB) to access the Multiplayer menu. From here, you can create or join a Breaker Team, as well as view your Invitations. To team up with friends, select "Create Breaker Team."
In the subsequent menu, enable the "Password Required" option and set a password. After creating your private Breaker Team, you can invite up to two friends using your platform's social service, which supports PSN, Xbox, and Steam. Hyper Light Breaker accommodates groups of up to three players.
If your friend is currently in-game, they'll receive the invitation in the "Invitations" tab of the Multiplayer menu. Otherwise, they can join your session via the invitation link you send them.
Your team may also appear in the general list of Breaker Teams if there's room for more players. If other methods fail, your friend can search through this list and join your Private group directly.
Once your friend accepts the invite and enters the password, you're all set to embark on co-op adventures in Hyper Light Breaker.
Random Online Matchmaking In Hyper Light Breaker
For players looking to dive into multiplayer without a group of friends, Hyper Light Breaker offers public matchmaking. You can either create a public group by following the same steps as above but omitting the password, or join an existing one through the game's matchmaking system.
Navigate to the multiplayer menu at the Cursed Outpost and select "Join Breaker Team." Scroll to the bottom and choose "Join Random Public Breaker Team."
The system will search for available public, non-password-protected Breaker Teams and place you into one. After a brief loading screen, you'll find yourself in the world of the Breaker Team's creator.
To exit a multiplayer session, return to the counter at the Cursed Outpost and access the multiplayer menu. If you're currently in a session, an option to disconnect will appear at the bottom of the list. Selecting this will return you to your own world. Alternatively, you can simply quit the game to end the session.
