Navigating the expansive, synthwave-inspired Overgrowth in Hyper Light Breaker can be a challenge, but your Hoverboard is here to make traversing this vast landscape a breeze. Contrary to what you might think, you have access to the Hyper Light Breaker Hoverboard right from the start of the game, even though it's not explicitly mentioned.
The Hoverboard is more than just a cool way to get around; it's the game's sprint mechanic, allowing you to cover large distances quickly while your Energy depletes slowly. This guide will walk you through how to summon and ride your Hoverboard, as well as highlight its unique features that make it an indispensable tool for exploring the Overgrowth.
How To Summon A Hoverboard In Hyper Light Breaker
To summon your Hoverboard and sprint in Hyper Light Breaker, simply hold down the Dodge input. Your Breaker will dash forward and seamlessly transition onto the Hoverboard as long as you keep holding Dodge.
Controlling the Hoverboard is straightforward. Use the left analog stick to lean and turn in the desired direction. The speed at which you're traveling affects your turning radius; at top speed, turns are slower, but at lower speeds, you'll find it easier to maneuver.
To dismount the Hoverboard, release the Dodge input. Additionally, if your Energy runs out while you're riding, the Hoverboard will automatically de-summon.
Keep an eye on your Energy, displayed next to your Breaker's companion. If it starts to run low, take a moment to jump off and let it recover to avoid an unexpected dismount.
Hoverboard Movement Tips & Special Uses
While you can't perform tricks or attack while on the Hoverboard, Hyper Light Breaker has equipped it with several useful attributes. For instance, the Hoverboard can float on water, allowing you to cross inlets and rivers without detouring around them. Remember, you must be riding the Hoverboard before entering the water; you can't summon it once you're submerged. No matter how you enter the water, the Hoverboard will quickly bring you back to the surface, ensuring a smooth ride.
Another handy feature is the ability to duck and prepare for a jump by holding down the default Jump input while on the Hoverboard. Although you can't double-jump, the increased speed can help you clear larger gaps. Ducking doesn't boost your speed or jump height, but it's perfect for timing those tricky jumps accurately.
