Warhorse Studios confirms that their upcoming medieval RPG, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 (KCD2), will launch completely DRM-free. This follows online speculation and misinformation suggesting otherwise.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2: No DRM, Period
Addressing fan concerns on a recent Twitch stream, Warhorse Studios PR head Tobias Stolz-Zwilling explicitly stated that KCD2 will not employ any DRM system, including Denuvo. He attributed the confusion to miscommunication and urged gamers to cease inquiries about DRM integration. Stolz-Zwilling emphasized that any unconfirmed information circulating online is inaccurate.
Putting DRM Concerns to Rest
The absence of DRM addresses player concerns regarding potential performance impacts and negative experiences associated with anti-piracy software like Denuvo. While Denuvo's product manager, Andreas Ullmann, has previously attributed negative community perception to misinformation and confirmation bias, Warhorse Studios' decision to forgo DRM entirely avoids any potential controversy.
KCD2 Release and Kickstarter Rewards
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is slated for release in February 2025 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game continues the story of Henry, a blacksmith-in-training, set against the backdrop of medieval Bohemia. Players who contributed at least $200 to the game's Kickstarter campaign will receive a free copy.
