Nintendo Addresses Recent Switch 2 Rumors

Nintendo Responds to Switch 2 Leaks from CES 2025

Following a series of Nintendo Switch 2 leaks originating from CES 2025, Nintendo has issued an official statement. The company confirmed that the images circulating online are not official Nintendo materials. This is a rare instance of Nintendo publicly addressing product leaks.

The statement, given to the Sankei Shimbun, emphasizes Nintendo's non-participation in CES 2025. Therefore, any Switch 2 imagery showcased at the event cannot be considered official.

While Nintendo didn't comment on the accuracy of the leaks, the replica Switch 2 displayed by accessory maker Genki aligns with previous rumors and leaks. The most notable difference from the original Switch is the addition of a new button, labeled "C," located beneath the right Joy-Con's home button. Its function remains unknown.

Genki CEO Eddie Tsai, while unable to shed light on the "C" button, offered additional details. He suggested the Switch 2 Joy-Cons will use magnetic attachment instead of sliding rails and hinted at potential mouse functionality, corroborating earlier reports.

Nintendo previously indicated a Switch 2 reveal within fiscal year 2024 (ending March 31, 2025). With approximately 80 days remaining, anticipation remains high. A retail launch is not expected before the second quarter of 2025, with a rumored price point of $399.
