Pokémon TCG Pocket Update: Trading Feature Delayed Until Autumn

by Hunter May 24,2025

The launch of Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket sparked excitement among fans, but it wasn't long before the trading feature hit its first major snag. Initially, trading was hindered by the need for a scarce currency and strict trading limitations. However, a recent update aims to address these issues head-on.

The first significant change is the complete removal of Trade Tokens. Now, trading cards of three-diamond, four-diamond, and one-star rarity will require Shinedust, which players can earn by opening booster packs and receiving cards already registered in their Card Dex. If you have existing Trade Tokens, don't worry—they can be converted into Shinedust. Given that Shinedust is also needed to obtain flair, further modifications are planned. An upcoming update will introduce an in-game function to share cards you're interested in trading.

Trading spacesAs previously noted, the initial implementation of trading seemed lackluster, primarily due to the necessary restrictions in a digital environment to prevent abuse. These restrictions, while essential, can feel overly limiting compared to real-life trading scenarios.

While these changes are a step in the right direction, they won't be implemented until autumn at the earliest, leaving fans waiting through the spring and summer. Although the Pokémon TCG Pocket team is addressing the issues, the pace of these updates has left some players wishing for quicker resolutions.
